Even though summer isn't over yet, Labor Day seems to mark the unofficial end of the season. School has started, the air is cooling, and pumpkin spice flavored everything is popping up everywhere you look. Before moving forward into the fall, I couldn't help but look back on my summer and marvel at all the things that have happened over the last few months. Every summer has a story, and for me this summer is no exception.
If you've looked at the date of the last blog post, you can see that I've taken a "summer vacation" from writing. In case you've been wondering what I've been up to in the meantime...
- I made the big decision to leave my 9 to 5 job to pursue freelancing full-time. (I think this one fulfills my yearly quota for courageous acts, no?)
- I moved into a new apartment, which is awesome (!) even with the crazy amount of boxes still left to unpack.
- I packed up Griffin and my bridesmaid dress and drove 12 hours from Missouri to Texas to see my big sister get married to the love of her life.
It's been a busy season for sure!
Sometimes you just need to wipe the slate clean and start fresh!
Currently, I'm in the middle of a three week visit to my family up in Canada. Having the opportunity to spend time with loved ones in a place so dear to my heart has been so special, and enjoying this long of a visit wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't taken a leap of faith into the freelance life.
As much as I'm enjoying my time taking a deep breath after a season of busyness, which is sure to be followed by another season of busyness, it's easy to dwell on the fact that I could be putting in more hours working each day, that my social media accounts have been laying dormant, or that it's been three months since I've last written a blog post. However, when I start going down that path of worried thoughts, I just remind myself of how much I've learned about having faith that things will work out and that hard work and dedication has a big pay off. So in the meantime, I'm going to keep working on my current projects, posting photos on Instagram every now and again, and enjoying my time in the mountains with some of my favorite people.
I'll be back in the swing of things soon! Plus, I've got some fun projects wrapping up that I'll be sharing in the near future. So until then, feel free to look around in the archives at past blog posts – below is a list of the five most popular posts on the blog.
